BAGHLAN PROJECT
Baghlan province of Afghanistan located in the north from capital
of the country
(see on the map) has an overall population of 710347 (CSO data),
BDN supports a total of 24 health facilities, 520 Health Posts
and 544 Community Development Councils through funds received from
USAID, World Bank and GAVI.
The Baghlan PPG project funded by USAID/REACH covers 7 CHCs, 8 BHCs,
and 360 HPs that can be considered as a symbol of forward movement
in the region where more than 60% of CHWs are female. Moreover,
with specific mobilization efforts, BDN pioneered the formation
of the first model female Local Health Committees (LHC) in the most
conservative communities of Baghlan province. Moreover, BDN started
BPHS implementation in 2006 in the districts of Baghlan that had
previously remained uncovered, through 1 CHC+, 3CHCs, 2 BHCs, 3
SCs and 160 HPs with funding from World Bank.
