BAGHLAN PROJECT


Baghlan province of Afghanistan located in the north from capital of the country (see on the map) has an overall population of 710347 (CSO data), BDN supports a total of 24 health facilities,  520 Health Posts and 544 Community Development Councils through funds received from USAID, World Bank and GAVI. 
                   
The Baghlan PPG project funded by USAID/REACH covers 7 CHCs, 8 BHCs, and 360 HPs that can be considered as a symbol of forward movement in the region where more than 60% of CHWs are female. Moreover, with specific mobilization efforts, BDN pioneered the formation of the first model female Local Health Committees (LHC) in the most conservative communities of Baghlan province. Moreover, BDN started BPHS implementation in 2006 in the districts of Baghlan that had previously remained uncovered, through 1 CHC+, 3CHCs, 2 BHCs, 3 SCs and 160 HPs with funding from World Bank.

BDN covers a total of 9 districts of the province:

Provision of quality services through 33 health facilities to population of 720058 in 2008, new 7 sub centers and one mobile health team established which provides additional coverage to 275000 People

Balkh
A total if 54 health facilities 7 of which were established in 2008 provide quality health services to 612773 people besides, by establishment of one mobile health team a totally 240000 people in remote areas start utilizing health services3

Daikundi
A total of 612773 people receive quality health services through 36 health facility by establishing 5 sub centers and one mobile health team in 2008, a total of 265000 people started benefiting from health services.5

 Ghazni
Provision of quality services through 26 health facilities to population of 637769, Establishment of new 5 sub centers and one mobile health team which provides additional services to 265000 People.
